Substances used may include alcohol, amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, benzodiazepine, opiates or pain medication. Often, medications initially prescribed for chronic pain become addictive. Addiction may also have a co-occurring mental illness. Addressing the causesIn treating addiction, the staff at Alliance Health Center focuses on the underlying physical, mental and spiritual symptoms. The key is the personal attention the staff gives each and every patient. Medical DetoxificationSometimes, detoxification is the first step in healing and recovery. We offer medical detoxification for individuals that come to Alliance Health Center. The detoxification unit at Alliance Health Center is managed by a psychiatrist. Medications are carefully chosen and monitored to safely detox the patient with the minimal discomfort. Our doctors will use Suboxone but for opiate detox only. The length of stay in this unit varies due to many factors, but most people complete the process within five to seven days. In some cases, the patient may be transferred to a dual diagnosis track for several days to gain insight into this complicated disease in a safe, stable environment. Dual DiagnosisOur staff provides help and therapy with a co-occurring mental illness. Our certified addiction counselors provide education on addiction, recovery and what happens if there is a relapse. We also introduce our patients to 12-step programs such as Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous, which over the years have proven to be some of the best solutions to long-term sobriety.
